My Little Bio

My work is inspired by my life-long affinity for the natural world - the complex tapestry of shapes, textures, light, and color that are found in all of its varied elements. I am particularly drawn to the beauty of plant life and its relationship to the earth, water, and sky.

Using layering, transparency, and other techniques I seek to capture both the extraordinary richness of nature as well as the sense of movement and connection between the earth, water, and sky. For the most part, I work from everyday elements of nature such as plants, rocks, leaves, and water, that I find in my own urban neighborhood, as well as in the wilderness and other natural areas I have visited. I work primarily with watercolors and water-color pencils, and in some instances ink, and charcoal, on 300 lb. cold press Arches watercolor paper.
